Fall in Wheeling is one of the best times of the year. Here are some of the best activities to enjoy the Autumn weather.

Fall in Wheeling has a lot to offer residents, so whether you're thinking of buying a home here or you're already living in a house acquired from Wheeling homes for sale, it's time to gear up for autumn events. Our real estate agents have lots of advice on buying or selling a house in Wheeling, but also have tips on what there is to do and where you should go in the Wheeling area throughout the seasons.

Let's take a peek at some of the cool fall activities on tap for our area.

  1. Good Mansion Wines. 95-14th St., Wheeling
How about a great glass of wine to toast the arrival of fall in Wheeling? Some scrumptious baked goods? Charcuterie, with at least 100 cheeses and some delectable salami to sample? Lunch, anyone? You can have it all at Good Mansion Wines. Founded in 2006 by Dominick Paul Cerrone, Good Mansion was the first vendor to bring a large selection of wines to Wheeling. You'll love the proprietors' philosophy: that good wine "should be a commodity, not a luxury." You can try wine from 20 of Italy's regions, or sample German, French, Spanish, and New World selections.

  2. Wheeling Park. 1801 National Road, Wheeling
There's always lots going on at historic Wheeling Park, especially in fall. Originally a private estate, the park later became a private amusement park, featuring rides, games, swimming pool, casino, and arcades. Musical shows, plays, and operas were presented at the casino. The city acquired the park in the '20s; the casino and swimming pool were renovated; a golf course was added and the park opened in 1926 with 20,000 visitors. A skating rink was added in the '30s, and a tennis air drome for winter tennis in the 70s. Later came a picnic area with fireplace and outdoor kitchen; tennis courts; and soccer fields. There's something for everyone at beautiful Wheeling Park.

  3. The Capitol Theatre. 1015 Main St., Wheeling
    The Capitol Theatre
, which opened in 1928, has seen some highs and lows through the years, but renovations in this century have modernized the facility so that it's now a popular, multi-purpose facility. Events include Broadway shows, musical acts, concerts, and comedy; plus it's a popular wedding venue, complete with a full roster of wedding services. Check out the schedule of events for this autumn and plan to enjoy the best of live theater.

  4. Oglebay Resort. 465 Lodge Dr., Wheeling
Planning a special occasion this fall? There's so much to do at the beautiful Oglebay Resort. Whether it's a wedding, an outdoor extended family party, a banquet, a business meeting, an educational presentation, or a concert, Oglebay Resort has the facilities you'll need. Check them out: spacious auditorium, beautiful ballroom, rooftop patio, formal gardens, log buildings for meetings and parties, outdoor shelter, golf course, fine dining and holiday buffet, a top zoo with 50 species of animals, a spa, health and wellness classes, and much more.

  5. Figaretti's Restaurant. 1035 Mount Dechantal Road, Wheeling
Celebrate the cool fall weather in Wheeling, or any event, with dinner and wine at Figaretti's Restaurant. Serving fine Italian fare paired with excellent wine (more than 40 varieties) since 1948, Figaretti's is known for traditional Italian dishes, as well as their signature spaghetti sauce (the recipe has been in the family for five generations). Check out the steaks and seafood, as well as the lunch specials.

There are lots more interesting venues, large and small, to sample this fall in Wheeling. Just get in the car and explore!
