Hiring Experienced REALTORS®

We're Hiring Experienced REALTORS

Choosing the right real estate brokerage is naturally one of the keys to success for your career in real estate, whether you're an experienced agent or just getting started. But what do you do if your current brokerage is no longer an ideal fit, and how do you know when it's time to make a change? Whether you're looking for new opportunities, a different work environment, or a better chance to build upon your personal brand, there are a variety of good reasons to consider making a switch. Our REALTORS® are here to help you make an informed decision, with our guide to signs that it may be time to switch real estate brokerages.

Follow These Signs to See If It's Time to Switch Real Estate Brokerages

  1. Looking for New Learning Opportunities – Have you stopped being the student at your current brokerage, and started to play the role of teacher? While mentoring new agents can be rewarding, focusing only on teaching means that you may not have the chance to develop new, useful skills, or learn from agents with more experience. If your current brokerage isn't presenting opportunities to learn and grow, it may be time for something new.

  2. A Chance to Grow Your Personal Brand – Working at a big-name brokerage can be an appealing option, especially for new agents, but if the real estate brand is too big, it can be hard to grow your own personal brand in the process. Choosing a brokerage where you can build your own brand, outside of the shadow of a larger brand, may be the right move to grow your career.

  3. Choosing a Brokerage with a Better Size for Your Needs – Even if a large brokerage gives you opportunities to grow your brand, there are plenty of reasons to consider switching to something smaller. The same goes for considering a larger brokerage if working at a smaller one doesn't suit your needs. Consider your priorities, goals for the future, and preferred working environment as you pick the right brokerage to advance your career.

  4. Searching for a New Working Environment – Ideally, you want to work at a brokerage where you look forward to work every morning, with a company culture and team mentality that matches your own outlook. If the company culture is lacking, the work environment is unnecessarily stressful, or people on the team simply don't get along, making a switch can be a healthy move for your career in real estate.

  5. Business Is Too Slow – If your current brokerage is not generating enough business for your needs, then even the best company culture can't make up for a lack of income. When you're working at a brokerage where business is simply too slow, or where you're not getting the type of leads you need to succeed, then making a move to a new brokerage can be good news for your financial stability.

  6. Looking for Long-Term Stability – Have you paid your dues as a new agent but don't feel like your brokerage is rewarding you with the stability that you've earned? Are you an experienced member of the team, but don't feel comfortable with the long-term direction of the brand? Choose a brokerage with the long-term stability that you need in order to take the next steps in your career.
